Our Summer of Fun

July 27, 2011

Prior to leaving for Israel, we filled our summer with a number of fun trips and activities: camping, water parks, an early anniversary celebration, the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, and a trip to California . . .

It all started with the Fourth of July

We then camped at Deer Creek

Our anniversary is Aug 14, but knowing that the weeks before our departure would be frantic, we celebrated early with a 3-day, 2-night get away to the Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah.

Dad and Grandpa would be proud that I revived my horsemanship!

A rainbow over our getaway cottage seemed appropriate!

Samuel, and Rachel too, love Coawabunga Water Park

We spent the Pioneer Day holiday in Cedar City, taking in a few plays at the Shakespeare Festival while we were at it

From August 1-9, we vacationed in southern California.  First we went to Disney Land, the happiest place on earth!

Mother joined us on the first part of our trip to California

One of the advantages of our trip was giving Samuel another experience flying, preparing him for the long flight to Tel Aviv

This is going to be a familiar scene Aug 24/25: the Huntsman Family hauling luggage around.  Just twice as much each!

My sister Lori and her daughter Lindsay joined us in the lobby of the Grand Californian.

One of the fun activities of our Disney Land visit was the "character breakfast"

Rachel outside of the "It's a Small World" attraction.
One of the great things about being a Dad is being able to be a kid again and have a lot of fun with your daughter!  The following is a silly clip Rachel and I made while riding the "Small World" attraction.

One of the reasons why we went to Southern California was to attend the wedding of my nephew, Bryan Despain.

We spent Saturday at Mission Beach in San Diego.

The last activity of our trip was a fun visit to Sea World.

When we got off the plane in Salt Lake City and had picked up our luggage, Samuel looked at me and said, "That was a great vacation, Dad. Thanks for taking me."  That made it all worth it.
