A little outing to the Qumran Caves

Jared and Margaret, Elaine, Steve and Jen, Kent and Nancy
Thursday afternoon the faculty and their wives "got away" to Qumran to see some caves that one does not normally see when visiting the official national parks site.  Driving up a dirt road and parking, we had to hike up into the hills to find Cave 1, where the Isaiah and other important scrolls were found.

Elaine loves Neolithic caves and cave dwellers, so this was a lot of fun for her.

We then tried to find Cave 3.  Apparently we just missed it, but it gave us the chance for a lot of hiking.  The women stayed down in the wadi, but the men spread out all over the mountain side and really got high up.

Honey, would you like a date to a cave?

Look closely, there is an ibex in the middle of the picture
